Xbox Starts Testing Mythic Achievements for Players Who Fully Complete Games

The new Xbox Insider feature marks 100-percent base-game achievement completion and can recognize eligible games players finished years ago.

Microsoft has started testing Mythic Achievements with Xbox Insiders, adding a new completion marker for players who unlock every original achievement in a game.

A game reaches Mythic status when all achievements included with the original release have been completed. Achievements added later through downloadable content or updates do not count toward the requirement.

The system is also retroactive for eligible titles. Microsoft says players may already see Mythic status on games they completed in the past, including supported Xbox 360 titles.

Xbox is pairing the feature with a new Gaming tab on player profiles. The tab brings together achievement history, Gamerscore milestone progress and completed games, while Mythic titles receive a distinct frame in the achievement history.

For unfinished games, a new progress bar shows how close the player is to Mythic status. Added achievements are identified separately so players can focus on the original achievement list required for completion.

The feature is currently being previewed through the Xbox Insider program, which means its design, availability and behavior could change before a broader release. Microsoft has not used the Insider announcement to provide a final rollout date for all Xbox users.
