Steam Deck on the TV: What to Check Before Buying a USB-C Dock
Check dock video output, power and ports against your Steam Deck, TV and accessories.
By ByteSized tech
Valve says Steam Deck USB-C can carry video and audio and describes connecting to a TV or monitor using suitable cables or a dock. Check the exact dock and display before buying.
Look for an output your TV accepts, such as HDMI, and confirm the supported resolution and refresh rate. Valve lists HDMI 2.0 and DisplayPort 1.4 on its Docking Station; third-party docks can differ.
Check whether the dock supports power input and whether an adapter is included. Verify requirements in the model documentation.
List accessories such as a controller receiver, keyboard, mouse, network cable or external storage. Compare them with the dock ports and capabilities.
Connect as directed, choose the matching TV input and then connect the Deck. If no picture appears, check the selected input and product compatibility information. USB-C alone is not a compatibility guarantee.
