Steam Cooking Fest Runs October 12–19: What Filipino PC Players Should Know
Valve is putting cooking, restaurant management and food-focused games in the spotlight for a week, with discounts and demos depending on each game.

Steam is turning the spotlight toward kitchens, restaurants and the games built around them. Valve lists Cooking Fest for October 12 through October 19, 2026, in its official Steamworks event calendar. It is a themed showcase rather than one of Steam's four broad seasonal sales, so the useful question for PC players is not simply whether a banner is live. It is which games are included, whether a specific title is discounted and whether a demo is available.
The theme covers games where preparing food or feeding people is central to the experience. That can mean a relaxed café simulator, a frantic co-op kitchen or a management game where staffing, supplies and service are as important as cooking. Valve says discounted games receive priority in themed events, but free games, upcoming releases and titles with demos can also participate. That means a game appearing in the event does not automatically have a price cut.
When does it start in the Philippines?
Valve's published Steamworks calendar specifies October 12–19 but does not give a Philippine-local launch hour on that page. Steam promotions often use a US Pacific storefront schedule, which can place the opening in the early hours of the following day in Manila. Treat any countdown from a third-party site as an estimate until the official event page updates. The practical approach is to check the Steam storefront late on October 12 or early on October 13 Philippine time and rely on the live prices shown for your account.
The distinction matters because the festival is immediately followed by Steam Next Fest on October 19–26. Cooking Fest is a genre-focused promotion that can include discounts, while Next Fest is primarily a discovery event for demos of games that have not yet launched. If you have been saving a wishlist for both, they serve different purposes. Use this week to evaluate cooking games you could buy now; use Next Fest to try upcoming releases without committing to a purchase.
What should you look for?
Start with games that clearly make food preparation or restaurant service their main loop. The category ranges from single-player time-management titles to first-person cooking and cooperative restaurant simulations. Look beyond the screenshot at whether the game has online co-op or only local multiplayer, whether controller support is listed and what language options are available. These details make more difference to a four-player session than an attractive sale percentage.
One game to watch is Dinerz, a restaurant simulator from Deep Loop Gaming and publisher PlayWay. Its Steam listing targets October 12, with burgers, fries, pizzas, cleaning, staffing and decoration among the advertised activities. It lists single-player and online cooperative play. That is a scheduled release, not a guarantee that it has unlocked in your region at the time you read this. Check its current store status before sharing a purchase link or treating it as available.
A sensible way to shop the event
For each title on your shortlist, open the actual store page and compare the live peso price with your budget. A festival badge is not proof of a discount, and a percentage reduction is not proof of value. Check whether a demo exists, read recent reviews for games already released, and confirm minimum system requirements. Smaller co-op titles can still be demanding on older laptops or require all players to own a copy.
For groups, agree on the multiplayer requirement before buying. Some games let friends join remotely; others require split-screen or a shared device. Also check whether the game's online features need an external account. If you are shopping on a handheld PC, Steam Deck compatibility is a useful clue, but an 'Unknown' rating should not be mistaken for either verified support or incompatibility.
What happens after October 19?
Cooking Fest ends as Steam Next Fest begins, according to Valve's calendar. The handoff gives players two consecutive ways to explore PC games, but they are not one continuous sale. If a title is only listed as coming soon, adding it to your wishlist may be more useful than waiting for a discount that cannot yet exist. If it is already released, the best buying signal is a combination of gameplay fit, review quality and a price you are comfortable paying.
For Philippine players, the takeaway is straightforward: Valve has confirmed the festival dates and broad theme, but individual prices, demos and participation should be verified on Steam itself. A focused wishlist beats buying several games just because a promotional week has arrived.
