Star Wars: Galactic Racer launches worldwide today, October 6, 2026, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
Developed by Fuse Games in collaboration with Lucasfilm Games, Galactic Racer is built around high-stakes, runs-based racing in the post-Empire Star Wars galaxy.
Players take the role of Shade, a mysterious racer who enters the Galactic League with a mix of personal ambition, revenge and a desire to challenge the league champion Kestar Bool.
A different kind of Star Wars racing game
Galactic Racer is not limited to podracing.
The game includes four major repulsorcraft classes: podracers, skim speeders, speeder bikes and landspeeders.
Each class has its own handling characteristics and tactical advantages.
Podracers are built around extreme speed and use ramjets, with airbrakes helping through tighter turns at the cost of velocity.
Skim speeders balance resilience and agility, with a Knife Edge maneuver designed for sharp corners.
Speeder bikes focus on speed and agility but sacrifice durability. Their Kinetic Burst can provide a temporary speed increase at the cost of control.
Landspeeders are heavier and more stable, with strong handling and better durability than the lighter vehicle classes.
A runs-based campaign
The single-player campaign uses a runs-based structure.
Players choose between different events as they move through the Galactic League, unlocking new challenges and rewards along the way.
Crashing too many times can end a tour, forcing the player to regroup and begin again.
Some perks and unlocks carry over between attempts, giving each new run a sense of progression.
Shade can also visit paddock areas between races, where racers gather and Hibi, Shade's Ardennian mechanic, operates a workshop.
Parts can be earned during runs or purchased from Hibi, with different stat boosts and abilities supporting different racing styles.
Campaign, Scenario and Arcade modes
Star Wars: Galactic Racer includes Campaign, Scenario and Arcade modes.
The campaign focuses on Shade's climb through the Galactic League and the rivalry with Kestar Bool.
Scenario mode and Arcade mode provide additional ways to race outside the main campaign structure.
Competitive multiplayer is also included, letting players race against rivals online.
Sebulba returns
One of the most recognizable names connected to the game is Sebulba.
The veteran podracer appears as part of Shade's journey, although earning his respect is part of the challenge.
The game also expands beyond familiar podracing locations.
Official footage has shown environments including Jakku, Sentinel One, Ando Prime and Lantaana, with branching routes and different environmental hazards designed to make each race feel distinct.
Customization matters
Vehicle setup is a major part of Galactic Racer.
Players can customize their repulsorcraft, unlock new abilities during runs and build around the strengths of each vehicle class.
The game also includes takedowns, adding more aggressive competition to the racing.
The result is a racing system built around more than pure top speed. Handling, durability, route choice, boosts, vehicle setup and risk management all affect how a run plays out.
Where you can play it
Star Wars: Galactic Racer is available worldwide starting October 6, 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
For Star Wars fans who have wanted a modern return to high-speed repulsorcraft racing, Galactic Racer expands the idea well beyond classic podracing by combining multiple vehicle classes, a runs-based campaign, customization and competitive multiplayer.
