Silver Pines launched on Steam on October 8, 2026, bringing together classic survival-horror tension and the interconnected map design of a metroidvania. Developed by Wych Elm and published by Team17, the PC game follows private investigator Red Walker into a fading American town to investigate the disappearance of musician Eddie Velvet.

The setup is a detective story, but the game is built around more than collecting clues. According to its official Steam listing, players will explore locked routes, fight or avoid dangerous enemies, solve environmental puzzles and search for scarce supplies. New tools and weapons open access to additional parts of the town as the mystery develops.

What makes Silver Pines different?

The mix of survival horror and metroidvania progression is the key idea. Traditional horror games often rely on limited ammunition, inventory management and careful route planning. Metroidvanias, meanwhile, reward remembering blocked paths and returning with new abilities. Silver Pines combines those rhythms in a 2.5D world with a noir atmosphere.

Its developer describes inventory space as limited and emphasizes that ammunition, healing items and upgrades all matter. That means the game may appeal more to players who enjoy exploration under pressure than to people looking for nonstop combat. The town also includes larger boss encounters, according to the store description.

The game's visual identity leans into small-town unease and psychological mystery. The official premise centers on Walker's search for Eddie Velvet, with a larger story emerging from the investigation. The store warns about blood, violence and mature horror themes, so this is not a family-friendly adventure.

Can your PC run it?

The official minimum specifications list Windows 10, an Intel Core i5-4460 or AMD Ryzen 3 1200, 8GB of RAM, a GeForce GTX 660 Ti or Radeon R9 270X, DirectX 12 and 5GB of available storage. The recommended list raises the processor and graphics targets but still lists 8GB of RAM and 5GB of storage.

Steam currently marks Silver Pines as Verified for Steam Deck. That is useful for handheld PC players, although it does not guarantee identical performance on every Windows handheld or under every graphics setting. Check current compatibility notes before buying for a different device.

Price and launch availability

The Steam listing shows a 10% introductory promotion scheduled through October 22. Prices can differ by region, account and tax settings, so Filipino buyers should rely on the PHP amount displayed in their own Steam checkout rather than converting an overseas listing. No Philippine-specific suggested retail price was independently confirmed for this article.

Early user review percentages can change quickly after launch, especially while the number of reviews is still small. A positive opening response is encouraging, but it should not be treated as a substitute for checking gameplay footage and reviews that discuss performance and controls.

Should you try it?

If you enjoy the tension of limited resources, backtracking through a connected world and solving a mystery, Silver Pines is a timely release to watch. Players who dislike inventory constraints or horror encounters should read the store description carefully. A demo has appeared on the Steam listing, but availability can change, so check the live page before relying on it.
