Risk of Rain 2: Hallowed Concepts Is Out With Two New Survivors
The October 8 expansion adds Acolyte, Enforcer and a darker set of stages and trials. Only one co-op player needs the DLC to share some content.

Risk of Rain 2 has another reason to send its survivors into danger. Hallowed Concepts launched on October 8, 2026, adding a darker N'kuhana-themed expansion to the third-person roguelike. The paid downloadable content introduces two survivors, new areas, tougher encounters and systems that trade risk for power.
The most useful detail for co-op groups is not a boss count. It is the access rule: according to the official DLC listing, only one person in a lobby needs to own Hallowed Concepts for its monsters, stages and items to appear in a shared run. Players without the expansion cannot select the new survivors or permanently unlock certain DLC content themselves.
Meet Acolyte and Enforcer
Acolyte is built around movement and a dangerous relationship with her own health. Gearbox describes a combat style that mixes close-range glaive attacks with ranged strikes and powers that demand careful resource management. Her theme fits the expansion's larger idea: earning stronger abilities by accepting additional risk.
Enforcer approaches the battlefield differently. He is a defensive vanguard who can create cover and then push forward when the moment is right. The two characters offer different rhythms for groups that want to experiment with aggressive movement or deliberate positioning.
The official October 8 patch notes also enumerate three new bosses, three new enemies, new stages, a new elite type and additional interactables. The content list is substantial, but it does not mean every feature is available immediately without in-game unlocks.
What are Trials, Hexes and Hallowed Items?
Hallowed Concepts adds three themed Trials: Survival, Predation and Mortality. They test different aspects of a run, including endurance and speed. The expansion also introduces Hexes, which can be taken on in exchange for Hallowed Items. This creates a familiar Risk of Rain trade-off: take a more dangerous route now in the hope of becoming stronger later.
The N'tormat is another new collectible system. Players can gather its pages to unlock powerful effects, with the developer warning that those abilities carry a cost. It is an invitation to experiment, not a promise that every build will benefit from the same combination.
What do friends need to buy?
If you usually play with friends, read the ownership rule carefully. A lobby can encounter the expansion's monsters, stages and items when at least one participant owns it. However, a friend who does not own the DLC cannot select Acolyte or Enforcer, nor permanently unlock certain Hallowed items, logbook entries or other DLC rewards.
That distinction matters when deciding whether a group needs multiple copies. One owner is enough to sample much of the shared environment, but personal access to the full progression and character roster still requires a purchase.
Availability for Philippine PC players
The expansion is live on Steam and requires the base Risk of Rain 2 game. The store page may show different currencies depending on account region, so check the actual Philippine Steam price at checkout rather than relying on a converted U.S. price. No verified official Philippine price is included here.
The game's existing technical requirements remain modest by current PC standards, but demanding late-game runs can still be sensitive to CPU and GPU load. Gearbox's DLC listing should not be read as an independent performance benchmark.
Hallowed Concepts is most appealing to players who already enjoy Risk of Rain 2's build experimentation and co-op runs. New players should remember that it is an expansion, not a standalone game. For existing groups, the one-owner content-sharing rule makes it easier to test the new areas before everyone commits to buying the DLC.
