Monster Hunter Rise has passed another major milestone.

Capcom says the game has now sold more than 20 million copies worldwide across all available platforms.

The milestone comes more than five years after Rise first launched on Nintendo Switch in March 2021.

Rise Has Kept Selling for Years

Monster Hunter Rise originally launched as a Nintendo Switch exclusive.

The game later expanded to PC in January 2022, followed by PlayStation and Xbox versions in January 2023.

That multi-platform rollout gave the game a much longer sales life than its original Switch-only period.

Capcom's official Platinum Titles data listed Rise at 19.3 million units as of June 30, 2026.

The new 20 million announcement means the game added at least another 700,000 sales after that reporting point.

Capcom Celebrated With New Artwork

The official Monster Hunter account marked the milestone with new Dango-themed artwork and thanked the hunters of Kamura for their support.

Capcom also noted that Monster Hunter Rise is currently discounted on Steam and Nintendo eShop.

Prices and sale periods can vary by region, so readers should check their local store before buying.

Rise Is Still One of Capcom's Biggest Games

At the end of June, Capcom ranked Monster Hunter Rise behind only Monster Hunter: World and Resident Evil 2 among its best-selling individual releases.

World was listed at 22.4 million units, while Rise stood at 19.3 million before this latest milestone.

Passing 20 million puts Rise into a very small group of Capcom games that have reached that level.

Sunbreak Helped Extend the Game's Life

The Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak expansion launched in 2022 and added new monsters, locations, equipment, and endgame systems.

Capcom listed Sunbreak at 11.9 million units as of June 30, 2026.

The expansion gave existing players a reason to return while also making the full Rise package more attractive to new players buying the game years after launch.

Why Rise Had Such a Long Sales Tail

Several factors helped Rise keep selling.

First, Monster Hunter has become one of Capcom's biggest global franchises.

Second, Rise reached nearly every major modern platform after starting on Switch.

Third, frequent discounts lower the barrier for new players who may have skipped the game at launch.

Finally, newer Monster Hunter releases can also bring attention back to older games in the series.

The Bottom Line

Monster Hunter Rise has passed 20 million copies sold worldwide.

The milestone comes after years of releases across Switch, PC, PlayStation, and Xbox and shows how long a major game can continue selling after launch.

Capcom's next official sales update will provide a clearer picture of exactly where Rise now sits among the company's all-time best sellers.
