A MOBA Built Around Armies

March of Giants is not simply another hero-versus-hero arena game.

Players control towering Giants while also commanding groups of soldiers across the battlefield.

That gives matches a layer of battlefield management beyond controlling one character.

Battleworks Change the Map

Ubisoft is also emphasizing a system called Battleworks.

These battlefield structures and tactical tools can alter how teams move and fight, giving players more ways to influence the map instead of relying only on direct combat.

Pioneer Playtest Details

The current Pioneer Playtest runs:

  • Start: October 7
  • End: October 18
  • Platform: Steam
  • Format: 4v4 competitive War MOBA

Ubisoft says players from the first Closed Alpha and newcomers can both participate through the current signup process.

Early Access Is Planned for 2027

Ubisoft is currently targeting summer 2027 for Early Access.

That means the Pioneer Playtest is still an early development milestone rather than a near-final beta.

Players should expect balance, progression, systems, and even major design decisions to continue changing based on feedback.

The Bottom Line

March of Giants' latest public test is live now.

Its combination of Giant heroes, soldier squads, and battlefield construction makes it one of Ubisoft's more unusual multiplayer projects, and the October 7–18 test is the clearest opportunity yet to see whether that formula works in practice.
