Haunted Heist Targets October 12 With Eight-Player Horror Party Games

Autotroph Games pits jewel-stealing Heisters against supernatural Tricksters in a procedural mansion, using proximity voice chat and deception as key parts of the competition.

An ordinary heist needs good timing and an exit plan. Haunted Heist adds a more troublesome complication: some of your friends are not there to steal the jewels. They are the ones trying to frighten, mislead and eliminate the thieves before the clock runs out.

Independent developer autotroph games lists Haunted Heist on Steam for October 12, 2026. The storefront still showed a coming-soon notice at the time of checking, so the date is a planned release rather than proof that a paid build is already live. The published game description outlines a 3–8 player, round-based asymmetrical horror-party game built around two competing teams.

The Jewel Thieves Have a Job to Do

One group plays the Heisters, entering a mansion to collect gems and carry them back to a safe room before the timer expires. The mansion is procedurally generated, which should keep the route to the objective from becoming completely predictable. Each round therefore asks the thieves to explore quickly without becoming scattered and vulnerable.

The Heisters have a practical tool kit: flashlight, handgun, flares and defibrillators. The developer also describes resource management involving ammunition and battery power. Proximity chat is part of the strategy. A nearby teammate may be able to warn you about a threat, but communication becomes harder when the group divides itself between rooms and floors.

A successful round is not simply about staying alive. Heisters still need to locate and retrieve the gems. That objective creates interesting choices: spend time protecting a teammate or make a risky dash toward the safe room with valuable loot? The most memorable matches will likely depend on those competing priorities.

Tricksters Win by Controlling the Mood

The opposing side, called the Tricksters, plays a different game. Steam's feature list includes invisibility, disguises, night vision, muting, voice swapping and other audio manipulations, as well as attacks from the dark. Abilities use cooldowns, so a Trickster must choose when to create a distraction and when to make a move.

Voice manipulation is an especially interesting idea for an online party game. If players cannot be certain who they just heard, communication itself becomes a source of doubt. In theory, a Trickster might split up a cautious group without needing to fight everyone directly. Those are possibilities implied by the feature list, not claims based on hands-on testing.

The game takes inspiration from two familiar social experiences: the co-op panic of horror titles and the suspicion of social-deception games. Its distinction is that the Tricksters are active opponents with explicit powers rather than hidden identities waiting through a voting phase.

A Game Built for Stream Nights?

Haunted Heist looks well suited to friend groups that enjoy noisy, replayable matches. Procedural layouts, two different roles and proximity chat should provide fresh moments even when the core objective stays the same. The developer advertises quick rounds, Steam achievements and leaderboard support; Steam also lists controller support for both Xbox and PlayStation controllers.

Those ingredients are promising, but it is worth separating design from performance. We have not tested matchmaking, voice quality, server regions or how balanced the two teams feel with different group sizes. A party game built around audio tricks must also handle players with less reliable connections, something relevant to friends joining from different locations across the Philippines.

What PC Do You Need?

The published minimum Windows configuration asks for an Intel Core i5-4460 or AMD Ryzen 3 1200, 8GB RAM, a GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB, Radeon RX 570 4GB or Intel Arc A380, DirectX 12 and roughly 2GB of storage. A broadband internet connection is required and the developer recommends a microphone for proximity chat.

Steam's recommended requirements increase that to 16GB RAM and a GTX 1660 Super, RTX 2060 or Radeon RX 5600 XT-class GPU. The listing also includes macOS support and Apple Silicon M1 minimum specifications. These are publisher-provided targets; they cannot tell us exactly how well a particular laptop will run a crowded match.

The game did not display a verified Philippine regional price in the material checked for this article. It would be misleading to present a converted US price as the amount Filipino players will pay.

What to Watch on Release Day

For all its haunted-house decoration, Haunted Heist is really a game about trust, information and timing. The question is whether the Heisters have enough tools to feel clever while the Tricksters have enough ways to feel unpredictable without becoming unfair. October 12 is the scheduled Steam date. Until it unlocks and players can try it, the most responsible verdict is that its premise sounds compelling, not that its execution is already confirmed.
