Gears of War: E-Day PC Graphics Explained: DLSS 4.5, Ray Tracing, FSR and More
E-Day supports hardware ray tracing, DLSS 4.5, AMD FSR, Intel XeSS, Unreal Engine TSR, RTX Mega Geometry and Advanced Shader Delivery. Here is what each feature does.
By ByteSized tech
Gears of War: E-Day is one of the more feature rich PC releases of 2026, but the list of graphics technologies can look more complicated than it really is.
The game is built on Unreal Engine 5 and DirectX 12. On PC, The Coalition supports hardware ray tracing, NVIDIA DLSS 4.5, AMD FSR, Intel XeSS, Unreal Engine TSR, NVIDIA Reflex, RTX Mega Geometry, Advanced Shader Delivery, HDR, ultrawide displays, and a built in benchmark.
Hardware ray tracing
Hardware ray tracing is part of the PC requirement itself. The minimum specification says a hardware ray tracing capable GPU is required.
E-Day uses ray traced lighting, reflections, and shadows. These effects are designed to improve how light behaves across scenes, especially in darker environments, reflective surfaces, and complex combat spaces.
The tradeoff is performance. Ray tracing adds GPU workload, so upscaling becomes important on less powerful hardware.
DLSS 4.5
On GeForce RTX hardware, E-Day supports NVIDIA DLSS 4.5.
The official Xbox and NVIDIA material highlights Super Resolution and Dynamic Multi Frame Generation, with NVIDIA Reflex included to reduce latency.
Super Resolution renders the game internally at a lower resolution and reconstructs a higher resolution output. The goal is to gain performance while preserving image quality.
Dynamic Multi Frame Generation is aimed at supported RTX 50 Series GPUs. It can create additional displayed frames between traditionally rendered frames.
That can increase displayed frame rate, but it does not replace the need for a strong base frame rate. Input response still depends heavily on the actual rendered frame rate and latency pipeline.
NVIDIA Reflex
Reflex is designed to reduce system latency.
This matters most when frame generation is enabled or when a game is GPU limited. Reflex helps reduce the delay between user input and what appears on screen.
RTX Mega Geometry
NVIDIA also lists RTX Mega Geometry support for E-Day.
The technology is designed to make highly detailed ray traced geometry more efficient to process. In a game built around dense environments, destruction, characters, and cinematic lighting, that can help maintain geometric detail without treating every object as a simple low detail ray tracing target.
AMD FSR
E-Day also supports AMD FSR.
This gives Radeon users, and other compatible hardware depending on the implementation, an alternative upscaling path for increasing performance.
The Steam feature list also references AMD FSR Redstone.
Intel XeSS
Intel XeSS is supported as another image reconstruction option.
That is useful because the game is not limited to one GPU vendor for upscaling. Players can compare DLSS, FSR, XeSS, and Unreal Engine TSR based on the hardware in their system and the image quality they prefer.
Unreal Engine TSR
Temporal Super Resolution is Unreal Engine built in temporal upscaling method.
TSR gives E-Day a vendor neutral option even when a player does not want to use DLSS, FSR, or XeSS.
Advanced Shader Delivery
Advanced Shader Delivery is one of the more interesting PC quality of life features.
Xbox says ASD can deliver precompiled shaders with the game, which is intended to reduce load times and eliminate first run shader stutter on compatible systems.
The July Xbox announcement said ASD would be available on supported PC storefronts including the Microsoft Store and Xbox PC app, with broader hardware and storefront support expanding over time.
Built in benchmark
E-Day includes a built in benchmark mode.
That makes tuning easier because players can compare presets, ray tracing choices, resolution, and upscaling modes using a repeatable workload instead of judging performance from different gameplay sections.
How should you tune the game?
Start with the official preset for your hardware class.
If performance is below your target, enable an appropriate upscaler before dropping every setting.
If you use frame generation, pay attention to the base frame rate and input response rather than looking only at the final displayed FPS number.
If VRAM usage becomes a problem, reduce texture or ray tracing pressure before pushing resolution higher.
The game supports several graphics paths, so there is no single best combination for every GPU. The useful part is that PC players have multiple reconstruction technologies, an official benchmark, and clear hardware tiers to work from.
