Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis has officially reached the end of service.
Square Enix shut down the free-to-play RPG on October 6 at 11 p.m. PT, which fell on October 7 in several other regions.
The closure ends a three-year run that began on mobile in September 2023 and later expanded to Steam.

The Servers Are Now Offline
Ever Crisis depended on online services for normal play.
With the servers shut down, the game is no longer available as a live service.
Square Enix had announced the closure in July, giving players roughly three months of advance notice.
Red Crystal Sales Ended Earlier
Sales of paid Red Crystals ended when the shutdown was announced.
Existing balances could still be used until the service ended.
Refund availability depends on region, with Square Enix specifically outlining a refund process for eligible users in Taiwan.
Three Years of Final Fantasy VII Stories
Ever Crisis was designed as a broad retelling and expansion of the Final Fantasy VII universe.
It covered familiar events while also exploring additional character stories and material connected to other Final Fantasy VII projects.
Square Enix continued releasing story and event content in the months leading up to the shutdown.
Why Live-Service Closures Matter
When a conventional single-player game is delisted, people who already own it may often still be able to play.
A server-dependent live-service game is different.
Once the backend disappears, major parts of the experience can become inaccessible even to long-time players.
Ever Crisis is another reminder that digital ownership and long-term preservation are especially complicated for free-to-play online games.
What Happens to Player Data?
Square Enix's shutdown notice said account information would be deleted after the procedures connected to end of service were completed.
Players who needed account information for regional refund processes were told not to delete or reinstall the application until those procedures were finished.
The Bottom Line
Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis is now shut down after three years online.
The mobile game launched in September 2023, with the Steam version following later that year.
Its closure is disappointing for active players and another example of how difficult it can be to preserve always-online RPGs once official service ends.
