ChatGPT Plus Free for 1 Month? Here's What Users Need to Know

If you have seen a ChatGPT Plus free for 1 month offer, the most important thing to know is that it is not necessarily available to every ChatGPT account. OpenAI says its promotions and free trials can vary by campaign, account, region, and payment method.

A dedicated ChatGPT promotion link is available below, but opening it does not guarantee that your account is eligible.

Check the ChatGPT Plus one-month offer

How to check the one-month offer

Open the promotion link and sign in to the ChatGPT account you want to use.

If your account qualifies, OpenAI says eligible promotions should show a confirmation or take you to checkout with the expected trial or discount already applied.

Important: Before confirming anything, check that the promotional price is actually shown. If you expect a free trial, the checkout should clearly reflect that offer. OpenAI advises users not to complete the purchase when the expected promotion is missing.

Who can get the offer?

Eligibility depends on the campaign.

OpenAI says some ChatGPT Plus promotions are limited to new Plus subscribers, including people who have never previously had a Plus subscription. Other campaigns can have different eligibility requirements.

Common reasons an offer may not work include:

• The account already has ChatGPT Plus.
• The account previously used a similar promotion.
• The promotion has expired.
• The campaign is not available in the user's region.
• The selected payment method is not supported for that promotion.

OpenAI also says that not every user or region is included in every free-trial or promotional campaign.

What do you get with ChatGPT Plus?

ChatGPT Plus is OpenAI's paid ChatGPT subscription and normally costs US$20 per month.

Compared with the Free plan, Plus currently provides broader access and higher limits. OpenAI lists benefits that can include:

• Higher model and message limits
• Access to advanced reasoning options
• Faster response speeds
• Voice conversations
• Image generation
• File uploads and analysis
• Deep Research tools where available

Exact model availability and usage limits can change, so the options shown inside your own ChatGPT account are the best guide to what is currently included.

What happens after the free month?

This is the part users should check carefully.

OpenAI says most promotions automatically renew at the standard ChatGPT Plus monthly price after the promotional period ends, unless the subscription is canceled.

Renewal: If your one-month offer requires a payment method and is set to renew, check the billing date shown during redemption.

OpenAI recommends canceling at least 24 hours before renewal if you do not want the subscription to continue.

Depending on the specific promotion, canceling a free promotion early may also end promotional access immediately.

Does the link guarantee a free month?

No.

The link can take you to ChatGPT, but the actual promotion is determined by your account's eligibility and the campaign rules.

Check your eligibility for the one-month ChatGPT Plus offer

Only treat the promotion as active after ChatGPT itself shows the free trial or expected discount for your account.

What if the offer does not appear?

If you sign in and do not see the one-month offer, that does not necessarily mean the link is broken.

Your account may simply not qualify for the campaign.

OpenAI recommends checking the promotion details shown during redemption and contacting support if you believe an eligible offer is not being applied correctly.

Do not complete a paid checkout expecting the discount to appear later.

The bottom line

A one-month ChatGPT Plus free offer can be legitimate, but it should be treated as a targeted promotion rather than a universal free month for every ChatGPT user.

Use the promotion link, sign in, and confirm that the offer is actually displayed before subscribing.

If the trial is available to you, also check the renewal terms so you know when the regular US$20-per-month Plus subscription may begin.
