Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse Launches October 15 With Rose Belmont in 1499 Paris

Konami’s new 2D action-exploration entry brings whip traversal, Arcana abilities and multiple editions to PC and consoles.

A new Castlevania adventure is out. Konami confirmed that Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse launched on October 15, 2026, bringing the series back to exploration-driven 2D action on PC and current consoles. The launch announcement places Rose Belmont at the center of the story and highlights a familiar whip alongside new ways to fight and explore.

For players in the Philippines who grew up with Castlevania's side-scrolling combat, this is a notable release rather than another collection of older games. It is a new entry, with a new lead, and it arrives during the franchise's 40th-anniversary year. That makes its design choices especially interesting: the developers have to respect a well-loved formula while giving players reasons to explore a fresh map.

Rose Belmont's journey begins in Paris

The story is set in 1499 Paris, 23 years after the events of *Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse*. Rose is the daughter of Trevor Belmont, and she sets out to confront creatures terrorizing the city and uncover the mystery surrounding Dracula's castle. Konami describes the game as an action-exploration adventure, which signals an emphasis on revisiting areas, discovering routes and unlocking abilities rather than simply clearing stages in a straight line.

Konami credits the project to itself, Evil Empire and Motion Twin. The publisher also highlights a soundtrack by Daniel ASADI. The announced setting mixes gothic Parisian streets with familiar Castlevania locations and enemies; it is not a historical reconstruction of the real city.

Whip movement is part of exploration

The signature Vampire Killer whip is not just a weapon. On the official game site, Konami emphasizes swinging and traversal alongside fast combat. That creates room for platforming routes and secrets that may be difficult to reach with ordinary movement.

The equipment system adds weapons across seven categories and relics that alter combat options. Players can combine discoveries into different builds instead of relying exclusively on one attack pattern. These are developer-described features; the best combinations and difficulty balance will become clearer as players spend time with the finished game.

Bosses also feed into the Arcana system. Konami says defeated bosses can be sealed into tarot cards that grant spells and special actions. Its examples include familiar names such as Death, Medusa and Carmilla, plus a new interpretation of Joan of Arc. The intriguing question is how these earned abilities reshape the map and combat encounters over time.

Where can you play it?

Konami lists PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC and Steam in the launch release. That gives PC players more than one storefront route and lets console owners choose the ecosystem they already use. Check the regional storefront for the actual peso price, supported editions and download size before purchasing; prices can differ between platforms and regions.

The official product information lists Japanese and English audio, with several subtitle languages. It does not list Filipino localization. The published product page also distinguishes the Switch version's 30fps target from 60fps information for other versions; those are publisher specifications, not ByteSized Tech performance tests on retail hardware.

Standard versus Midnight Edition

The standard edition includes the game. Konami's Midnight Edition adds alternate Trevor- and Sypha-style costumes, a digital sound-and-art gallery and the Family's Grace relic. The launch announcement says the gallery contains 71 tracks. An Alucard-style costume is described as a preorder or early-purchase bonus under the publisher's listed terms.

If you mainly want the new story and combat systems, the standard edition is the straightforward starting point. The Midnight extras are aimed at collectors and long-time fans who value costumes, music and art. Check whether a bonus remains available in your chosen Philippine storefront rather than assuming every retailer follows the same window.

What to know before buying

This article reports the confirmed launch and publisher-described features, not a scored review. If you are deciding between PC and console, compare local store prices, control preferences and actual performance impressions. Fans of fast 2D action and hidden-path exploration have good reasons to pay attention, but launch-day quality still deserves independent testing.

The strongest reason to watch *Belmont’s Curse* is its blend of recognizable Castlevania identity with Rose's own combat and traversal systems. Whether that mix earns a place beside the series' classics is something players will decide after exploring the castle for themselves.
