ASUS ROG Strix RTX 5070 Review Guide: Measure Before You Buy

The RTX 5070 can target a 1440p gaming build, but the ROG Strix version is physically large and independent tests show only modest gains over the RTX 4070 Super.

The RTX 5070 is easy to recommend by name and harder to judge by price. NVIDIA equips it with 12GB of GDDR7, while this Shopee offer is the ASUS ROG Strix OC model. ASUS lists a 332mm length and a 3.2-slot thickness, so check your case clearance before you get attached to the idea of a new GPU.

What the reviews say

TechSpot tested the RTX 5070 Founders Edition across 16 games. In that test set, it averaged about 1% ahead of the RTX 4070 Super at 1440p and 5% at 4K. Individual games varied: one title favored the 5070 by a wider margin, while others tied or fell behind. Those results describe TechSpot’s test card and setup, not a promise for every game or the ASUS Strix cooler.

The exact card has practical trade-offs

The ROG Strix specification lists a 12GB GDDR7 GPU, a 16-pin power connector and a recommended 750W power supply. The card is 332mm long and over three slots thick. For example, if your case has a front radiator or drive cage near the graphics-card area, measure the open space from the rear bracket before ordering. Also check that your PSU has the correct cable or adapter arrangement.

Who should consider it? Someone building a new 1440p-focused PC who specifically wants this ASUS model and can verify the fit, power and price against other RTX 5070 versions. It is a less convincing buy as an automatic upgrade from an RTX 4070 Super; the published average uplift in TechSpot’s suite was small.
